What is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?

  • Reluctance to make friends and prefers to be alone.
  • Sometimes may also have seizures.

There are three main types of autism.

  1. Autistic Disorder – Recognized as a classic autistic condition, this is usually accompanied by significant language delays, social and communication challenges, and unusual behavior and intellectual disabilities.
  2. Asperger Syndrome- People with mild symptoms of autism may have social challenges, unusual behaviors, and interests, but no language or intellectual disabilities.
  3. Pervasive Developmental Disorder- This is called PDD-NOS. It usually has fewer and milder symptoms than those with autism and only causes social and communication challenges.

There are many different treatments available, including different types of therapy to improve speech and behavior, Because ASD is a spectrum disorder that is unique to each child. Those treatments are expected to reduce their symptoms and improve learning and development.

But, prevention is more important than treating it after it occurs. It is widely believed that autism is caused by a genetic influence at birth, although medical tests have not definitively confirmed it. Therefore, the birth of an autistic child can be controlled by adapting to a suitable lifestyle during pregnancy to give birth to a healthy child.

Here are some strategies we can follow for that,

  • eat well-balanced meals ( consider Folic Acid, Vitamin D, and Omega-3 Fatty Acids)
  • Make sure you have good prenatal careand use all recommended vitamins and supplements.
  • Do not take medication during pregnancy without a doctor’s prescription.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol.
  • Get prompt treatment for existing medical conditions.
  • Get vaccinated
  • Reducing Exposure to Toxins
  • Access to clean water
  • Control gestational Diabetes and Weight

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a complex disease with a wide spectrum of symptoms that is difficult to diagnose. Because its symptoms can be recognized very easily, treatment has become easier. But, it is more important to prevent the condition before it occurs.
